About The CPHI Sustainability Collective

At CPHI we are dedicated to leading the change to a sustainable pharmaceutical industry. To move this forward we launched the Sustainability Collective.

The Collective brings together change-makers from across the pharmaceutical industry to foster collaboration, share insights, and drive tangible progress on sustainability challenges.

Peylina Chu

A chemical engineer by training, consultant by profession, and convener at heart, Peylina Chu is an EHS and ESG strategist helping organizations succeed by aligning purpose with performance, believing that doing good leads to doing well. With 30+ years of experience, Peylina collaborates with multinational companies to  integrate ESG and EHS principles into their operations, minimizing risk and maximizing business value.


To amplify this impact, she has led several industry initiatives including the Healthcare Plastics Recycling Council (www.hprc.org), the Data Center Safety Council (www.datacentersafetycouncil.org), and the Inogen Alliance Board of Directors (www.inogenalliance.com), driving collective action for transformative, industry-wide change.

Arne Kloke is head of service and sustainability management at SCHOTT Pharma. He joined SCHOTT ‘s Pharmaceutical Systems business in 2014 and has been involved in introducing new primary packaging and processing solutions with suppliers, partners and customers throughout the injectables industry. In his current position, he is driving progress to product solutions and service concepts compliant with a zero-carbon future.

Aurelio Arias

Aurelio creates topical and forward-looking strategic content relevant to global pharma executives and publishes articles, blogs, and white papers on a regular basis.

Aurelio focus is on off-patent markets where he generates evidence-led insights with a view to spark high-level discourse on various topics relevant to the pharmaceutical industry. He is considered a subject matter expert in several areas including biosimilars, digital health and ESG and speaks at numerous conferences worldwide, presents at board-level meetings and engages in consulting projects.

Deirdre O’Reilly

As Senior Director of Global EHS Supplier Operations and Business Development at Viatris, Deirdre safeguards Viatris’ supply chain by minimizing risk from a business continuity, liability, and reputational perspective. Deirdre brings over 24 years of experience in the pharmaceutical industry to her new role within the PSCI. She has held leadership positions in site operations, EHS, supply chain, and technical product transfers at Pfizer, Upjohn Pfizer, and today with Viatris. She is a passionate advocate for responsible practices in the pharmaceutical supply chain and committed to working with the PSCI to achieve its strategic vision for excellence in patient, safety, environmental, and social outcomes.

Dr Fiona Adshead

Fiona chairs the Sustainable Healthcare Coalition that inspires partnerships and action on sustainable healthcare. She also works as an independent expert advisor and board member for national and global organisations on wellbeing and sustainability.  
 

She is a high-profile wellbeing and public health leader with a track record of reframing thinking and developing innovative strategy and programmes at the heart of business and government. Her previous roles include Deputy Chief Medical Officer and Director General in the UK Government, Director of Chronic Disease and Health Promotion at the World Health Organisation and Bupa’s Chief Wellbeing Officer.  
 

Fiona is a visiting Professor at UCL and is a Senior Associate at Cambridge Institute for Sustainability Leadership.  Fiona’s recent board roles include Fresenius ESG Advisory Board, My Green Lab, British Land’s Sustainability Advisory Panel, Marks and Spencer’s Sustainable Retail Advisory Board, and Business in the Community’s Wellbeing Leadership Team. Fiona is a member of the Health System Taskforce of the Sustainable Markets Initiative.

Kami Krista

Kami Krista is the CEO and co-founder of Elio. Elio is building a software platform to help scientists and process engineers seamlessly integrate sustainability into their process design decision, starting with pharma. The bigger vision is to help coordinate ecodesign across the value chain. To do so, Elio initiated the Pharma Eco-design Consortium together with Cytiva, ten23 health and others. 

Kami is a bioengineer by training, who has consulted large pharma companies on multi-billion dollar M&A deals and worked on drug development research at MIT while studying at Harvard. Kami has spent the last decade in the sustainability space in various capacities, including as a UN youth delegate and advisor to corporates such as IKEA. He has presented at the likes of World Economic Forum, COP26 and DECHEMA.

Nic is focused on the rapidly changing purpose of materials in making the world more sustainable & healthier, with a better quality of life. Healthcare is responsible for between 4 & 5 % of global GHG emissions, and with over 80% of all plastic ever made still in existence, Nic believes that the incremental journey that created this legacy needs to be offset by transformational actions to deliver circularity and net-zero. Nic’s experience spans plastic, fiber-based and nonwoven materials in the packaging, conversion, assembly, contract packaging and composite materials industries.

Nicola Coles

Nicola has been with BioPhorum since 2019. Initially focusing on raw materials, she has worked cross-phorum to connect the technical, supply chain, and regulatory experts to develop a strategy to future proof raw materials for the biologics industry. She now leads the newly launched BioPhorum Sustainability and is excited by the challenge to connect people from all disciplines across the industry around this critical topic. 

 

A change program leader with over 25 years of management and consulting experience, Nicola has supported private and public sector organizations to improve results by aligning motivation, behaviors, and processes. Her passion is creating the link between executive strategy, technical capability, and front-line delivery, and developing comprehensive change programs underpinned by behavioral science techniques. 
 

Her extensive project and change experience has been in banking, telecommunications, pharmaceuticals, and public services. As a result, Nicola has a wealth of insight in overcoming common change barriers, as well as deep expertize in industry specific challenges.

Pushpa Vijayaraghavan

Pushpa Vijayaraghavan is Director and Practice Lead, Pharmaceuticals & Healthcare Advisory Practice, at Sathguru Management Consultants, a consultancy firm with market leading presence at the intersection of strategy, innovation, ESG, investment banking and policy in life sciences. Pushpa is also a member of the Governance Board of the Medicines Patent Pool, a UN founded organization stewarding voluntary licensing for access to medicines in LMIC.  She is also a member of the Therapeutics Working Group of the 100DayMission created during UK’s G7 Presidency.  Pushpa has also been a Senior Biopharma Sector Expert retained by the World Bank. 
 

Pushpa’s pragmatic yet forward-looking perspective is rooted in experience of having shaped strategy for leading biopharma companies, advising marque investors on opportunities across the realm of life sciences and stewarding close to 50 licensing / strategic partnership transactions. Within the realm of global health, Pushpa is actively involved in nurturing ecosystem building blocks for regional value chains and licensing for equitable access.  Pushpa is part of the steering group launching Sathguru’s pharma ESG practice and collaborates with leading pharma companies on sustainability focused transformation of operations and value chain. 

 

Pushpa has earlier been part of the Technology Transfer Office at University of Michigan and industry advisory at PricewaterhouseCoopers and Ernst & Young. She is a Registered Technology Transfer Professional (RTTP, and one among the first ten technology transfer professionals from India to gain the RTTP accreditation.  Pushpa holds a Certificate in Innovation Policy from the Ford School of Public Policy and is a Danida Fellow (Danish Government fellowship) on Innovation Management and IP commercialization.

Sandra Lopes Guerreiro

Sandra Lopes Guerreiro is currently the Global Quality, Safety & Environment Director at ESTEVE. 
 

Graduated with a degree in Pharmaceutical Sciences, she has concluded several studies in Product Management, Leadership, General and Pharmaceutical Management. A certified coach and on her way to conclude the Chief Sustainability Officer executive program.
 

Sandra is an experienced Leader, with a demonstrated history of 20 years in the pharmaceutical industry, recognized by several awards related with cultural changes, people development and process improvement. She has lead teams with a diverse background, accumulating several roles with local, regional, and global scope.

In her current position, Sandra supports both the chemical and pharma businesses at ESTEVE Healthcare, through seven manufacturing sites, located at three different continents and different affiliates, in Europe and USA. She leads different organizations like quality, EHS, environmental sustainability, Data Integrity & Computer System Assurance. She is also the sponsor for Net Zero and Be Wellness at ESTEVE.
