With the objective of attracting foreign investment in the pharmaceutical sector, the government had revised the negative investment list to allow foreign ownership up to 100% for pharmaceutical ingredients, hospital business and management consulting, and other healthcare auxiliary services such as medical equipment rental, laboratory and medical check clinics.
Particularly in the pharmaceutical ingredients sector, the government is on a mission to bring in more foreign investment to reduce the pharma manufacturing industry’s dependency on imports of pharma ingredients. There is a lot at stake, including technology, transfer of knowledge and expertise, funding, up to product distribution and market absorption.
