The CPHI Middle East Start-Up Programme:

In alignment with Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030, which underscores the growth and prosperity of small and medium enterprises as crucial to achieving economic goals such as job creation, technological innovation, and increased exports, CPHI Middle East Start-Up Market seeks to discover the next wave of innovators in the pharmaceutical supply chain.
 

Applications are welcomed from start-ups worldwide, with a particular focus on those based in Saudi Arabia and the broader Middle East region. 

Is your organisation eligible*?

We are looking for companies that:

 

  • Identify as a Start-Up, introducing an innovative concept to the market: a product or solution that is scalable and will positively impact multiple end-users
  • Active in the Pharma, Biopharma, Digital, or Medical Device Sector
  • Have a product at proof of concept, commercialized, or prototype stage
  • Can commit to attending CPHI Middle East, 10-12 December 2024 in person
  • Qualify as a micro or small enterprise, (2 to 50 full-time employees; no capital requirements)
  • Embodies the Start-Up essential characteristics of growth and scalability
  • Have been in business for no longer than 10 years
  • Has not exhibited before at CPHI as a full-scale exhibitor

CPHI Middle East Regulations

CPHI Middle East Start-Up market applicants must adhere to the 2022 Anti-Concealment Law and Anti-Fronting Law. These laws prohibit foreign entities from illegally conducting economic activities in Saudi Arabia by falsely appearing to be wholly owned by Saudi nationals, when in fact the beneficiaries are non-Saudis.

 

According to the Anti-Concealment Law, concealment refers to an agreement or arrangement where one person enables another non-Saudi individual to engage in economic activity in Saudi Arabia without the required license or approval, using the license or approval issued to the concealer.

Start-Up Pitch Competition

For the first time, CPHI Middle East is proud to host a Start-Up Pitch Competition, providing an exciting platform for startups to showcase their innovations, share their company vision, and refine their pitching skills in front of industry leaders.

The competition will take place at the CPHI Middle East Innovation Theatre across multiple sessions. Please refer to the conference agenda for detailed timings.

 

Participating startups will:

Deliver a 4-5 minute pitch followed by a brief Q&A session.

Highlight key aspects such as the problem addressed, proposed solution, market opportunity, business model, traction, and team background.

Startups are encouraged to emphasize social impact, sustainability, and innovation in their presentations.

 

Evaluation Criteria: An expert jury will evaluate pitches based on:

Uniqueness of the idea.

Market potential.

Clarity and sustainability of the business model.

Team capability and milestones achieved.
